2016 Sailing Holidays: Caribbean Yacht Charters & Powerboat Island Hopping!

If you are looking for a unique and unforgettable way to explore the beautiful Caribbean, a sailing holiday in the Grenadines might be just what you are looking for.

With a unique combination of English and French culture, excellent food and a rich history Grenada and the surrounding islands of the Grenadines offer some of the best yacht cruising areas in the world.

Why Choose A Grenadines Yacht Charter?

It is easy to 'sell' the Grenadines as a holiday and sailing location.

That is because the water really is that clear turquoise colour, sands are soft white and the coast is lined with palm trees. When you picture a beach holiday, you are probably thinking of an image similar to the ones in this post... And no wonder, the islands are truly stunning. What's more with the myriad of moorings, bays and anchorages the area is perfect to explore by sea and is one of the best yacht cruising areas in the world.

The Grenadines are a chain of islands stretching from Grenada (the Spice Island) to St Vincent (50 miles North). Grenada itself has become an exceptional gateway to the unspoiled islands of the Grenadines and most sailing holidays in the Grenadines will start from a base here such as Marina Port Louis.

What Makes the Caribbean Special?

Aside from the beautiful scenery, what makes this area great is the people. Previous Kalimba yacht charter holiday-makers often tell us how easy they found it to fall into the relaxed attitude of the Caribbean, perfect for a complete switch off and recharge from office life. The Caribbean also has one of the best climates for a relaxing holiday, with a cool breeze cutting through the humidity.

The Caribbean tends to have drier weather from May-October than the Pacific Cost offering the perfect beach/rainforest combination. The islands are lush, vibrant green as we do get some rain(!) But not enough to interfere with your holiday.

Why Choose Kalimba Caribbean Tours?

Caribbean party.jpgAs we are an independent company our tours show you the authentic Caribbean, often not seen by cruise liners and 5* all inclusive resorts. Furthermore, being independent means we can build an itinerary specific to your requests. Such stops can be the islands of Carriacou, Bequia, Mayreau and Canouan. You may also choose to anchor in the fabulous Tobago Cays, a breathtakingly stunning national park, or spend more time exploring the fascinating island of Mustique if you desire.

As we are knowledgeable about the area we can help you put together the best holiday possible, for as long as you like, with as many stops as you wish. Our Caribbean sailing holidays start from the dock at Grenada. Grenada itself has lots to explore with easy-going islanders making you feel welcome. You might want to stay and explore the island for a few days before heading north.

More About Grenada...

The nation of Grenada is actually a chain of six islands including Grenada, Petite Martinique and Carriacou. The island has an international airport with connections to Europe, North America and lots of other destinations around the world. The international airport is one of the main reasons that sailing holidays begin here: as this is where you will typically land!

Sailing Holidays: The Perfect Way to Explore

One of the great things about a sailing holiday is you will get a chance to try sailing. If you have sailed before, or haven't our skipper will be able to show you the ropes and let you have a go at sailing on the Caribbean seas - something to cross off the bucket list and certainly a great story to tell once you are back home.

Of course, for those who aren't interested in sailing you can simply sit back and relax whilst you are whisked across the clear blue seas.

Powerboat Island Hopping Tours & Caribbean Kitesurfing Safaris

Alongside our sailing holidays aboard Kalimba we also offer island hopping tours on Kalimba Too as well as kitesurfing safaris.

Kalimba Too is a high speed RIB powerboat, perfect for thrill seekers or those who want a quicker travel time between islands. On these holidays our powerboat can get you from island to island fast, which gives you more time to explore on land. With these holidays you sleep on shore in local guest houses (included in the price).

Be warned the Kalimba Too powerboat is fast and you may get wet! This type of sailing isn't for everyone. If a full sailing holiday isn't for you, Kalimba Too is also available for day tours. You can enquire about these by emailing us: info@kalimbacaribbeantours.com

What Is There to Do in Grenada and the Grenadines?

There is lots to do in the Grenadines. You can explore famous areas such as the Tobago Cays, Salt Whistle Bay, or the old whaling island of Bequia. Whether you are adventurous and fancy swimming in waterfalls, or simply chilling on the beach with a cocktail and a BBQ there is something for everyone.

Previous holiday makers aboard Kalimba have tried snorkeling among the tropical fish and kite surfing whilst others have enjoyed simply walking along the white, sandy beaches taking in the stunning views.
