Cruise the Caribbean on Kalimba Too Luxury Powerboat
As well as Kalimba, our sailing yacht we also operate Kalimba Too our high speed RIB powerboat. Kalimba Too is perfect for thrill seekers who want to travel between the islands. Our boat will get you around the Grenadines at speed, allowing time to visit more islands, bays, beaches and secluded swimming and snorkeling spots. The powerboat whisks you between islands and, importantly, gets you to the party first!
What's Involved in the Kalimba Too Powerboat Adventure?
During this Caribbean sailing holiday you will sleep ashore. Local guest house accommodation is included in the price. A typical two week itinerary starts with an on shore tour of Grenada followed by 10 days around the Islands. You will be provided at least two nights in each hotel, meaning you won't be packing and unpacking everyday. This also means you will have plenty of time to explore the area, meet the locals and get a proper feel for the place.
Each guesthouse has been carefully selected, they are locally owned, clean, friendly but may offer only basic facilities (this is not a resort holiday!) It's unlikely that they will make you Pina Coladas or Mojitos, but you can always find a local bar nearby for that or, more likely, enjoy a local rum. Rooms will have clean beds in them, but no spa, electric curtains, mini bar, power shower, in house masseuse, trouser press, butler service or champagne fountain. Although some do have swimming pools!
We know each stop off area well and will always point you in the direction of the best bars, good music and restaurants.
What is the itinerary like?
Like our Grenada sailing yacht, Kalimba Too is also based in Grenada and the first and last day of your itinerary will be to and from Carriacou. In this boat the trip is covered in under two hours. From Carriacou Kalimba will visit the Islands of the Grenadines. A typical itinerary is shown on the powerboat itinerary page. The greater speed of Kalimba Too allows Bequai and Mustique to be included in the itinerary. Kalimba Too is at your disposal everyday, we can take you to bays and beaches seldom visited, the shallow draft of Kalimba Too allows us to get into places that no yacht can ever access. Your skipper will discuss and agree the exact itinerary with you.
Kalimba Too has plenty of room to transport your luggage and at each island stop we will arrange transfer of bags to the hotel for you. Some hotels will have beachfront access and Kalimba Too can moor up at the hotel jetty. Close to the hotels you will find local bars and restaurants with plenty of variety.
Who's it for?
This tour is not for the faint hearted. We would not recommend it to those with back problems, whose who are pregnant, those less mobile (unless you're young at heart!) or young children (unfortunately we are unable to take children under 12 on this boat). The boat will carry a maximum of 10 passengers.
What to expect?
The Kalimba Too Caribbean powerboat is fast and you may get wet. Your luggage will stay dry but we ask you not to bring much. Soft bags only and not over 20kg. Strictly no suitcases, no high heels and no glamorous party frocks. This is definitely for those looking for a unique holiday experience.
Most of the tour is in relatively sheltered inshore waters. However there is one exception to this. From the North of Grenada, when we leave the sheltered West Coast to Carriacou is 12 miles of open sea. On some days waves can be big and wind strong, but don't worry, we won't take you on this crossing on those days, we will utilize the ferry service instead. Other than this crossing, on the first and last days of the tour, distances are short, waters are more sheltered and you can expect most journey times to be no more than half an hour between islands.
At bays and anchorages you can go ashore. We will drop you off if there is a jetty, or use a local boat to take you, or you can swim ashore whichever you prefer. The boat also has a large sunbathing area and swim platform, so you can just stay on board if you want. A selection of snorkels and fins are kept on board.
The itinerary is suggested, but is flexible, it can be adjusted by mutual agreement with the others on board. If you want to stay somewhere longer, or miss somewhere out or would like to go somewhere else we are more than happy to oblige. We would suggest adjusting the itinerary to be take in Union Island for the full moon party or Carriacou for the carnival.
Kalimba Too can also be used for kitesurfing holidays. For more information about day-trips or full kitesurfing safaris with Kalimba please visit our kitesurfing page.
